Because I was feeling incredibly tired earlier, I prepared dinner for the children (complete with our first batch of homemade ketchup) and then laid down for a few minutes this evening. After watching my small son fall asleep, I thought I’d just close my eyes for a few more minutes and join the others. But I fell asleep.
In a daze, I heard my oldest son say, “Oh, Mama’s asleep.”
My daughter replied, “Shhh, don’t wake her up.”
After a few minutes, I heard a snap, snap, snap and wondered what on earth my three older children had gotten into.
Still half asleep, I walked into the living room, where I discovered The Trio sitting on the couch (they like to sit right up next to each other–it’s too cute) watching a movie and eating these gigantic carrots that looked about the size of my smallest child.
Fortunately my children love carrots, cucumbers, and salads in general. I can make them a feast and the only certainty I have is that the salad will be gobbled up. I usually buy the baby carrots or carrot chips, but these were the organic large juicing carrots. And there were my children, trying very hard to eat these huge carrots.
Their response to my presence?
“Hi, Mama. We got some carrots โcause we’re still hungry. Did we wake you up?”
So…what do my children do when faced with the opportunity to get into somereal trouble?
They put on a movie and raid the fridge for giant carrots.
Speaking of carrots, did you know…ย
Carrots are a great snack for children and families in general, because they’re easily portable and are highly nutritious. One average carrot provides Vitamins A, B, calcium, phosphorous, carotenoids, and lycopene. Supporting the kidneys and liver, consuming carrots help flush out excess fluid, and the cleansing power is boosted even more with natural fiber, helping to prevent constipation.

The Mama Behind the Story says
Haha…don’t be too jealous, they’ve been known to really get into trouble at other times, too. ๐ They’re great little ones though and I’m glad they’re in this family.

I love this! How funny that they eat carrots. I think I would have gone for cookies or something sugary at that age haha. Great job raising your babies, Sara Elizabeth!

My kids only like baby carrots, so I think my yellow carrots for stock are safe. With my luck though, they’d find the peanut butter and paint something with it.
The Mama Behind the Story says
Haha!!! I’m surprised mine didn’t do some painting, too. I thought it was hilarious seeing them try to chew down these giant carrots.
Crystal @ Serving Joyfully says
Must be nice! lol…I wouldn’t dare do such a thing because my little ones WOULD create the chaos! lol I like to think we still have a nice little family though, even if our kiddos are slightly rambunctious ๐
The Mama Behind the Story says
Absolutely!! And mine definitely know how to be rambunctious! I thought we were going to get kicked out of our last photography session! They were insane!

Bwahahahaha! When my youngest son had the opportunity to get into trouble, he would go raid the fridge for milk or juice and then pour it on the dog’s back.
Poor dog. She would walk slowly (she was older) all over the house, trying to get away. Also, poor us as we had a trail of juice or milk all over the floor and carpet. One time my husband grabbed the camera and filmed the trail, the victim and the culprit, lol! That’s what I get for trying to go the bathroom by myself!
This same son loves carrots too, by the way. He piles a plate full of them and dips them in Ranch. Thanks so much for linking up to the “Making Your Home Sing Monday” linky party today! ๐
A Proverbs 31 Wife says

So glad you linked this up to Matrimonial Monday.
