Morgan is five years old, and she enjoys working in the kitchen. Because her love of cooking and preparing meals for the family is growing, we’re allowing her to look at more involved cookbooks, but this book Whole Foods for Kids to Cook is her favorite. We purchased our copy from our local La Leche League Group, but you can go online to the LLLI site to check it out and purchase it.
While there, you can also look at Whole Foods for Babies and Toddlers. I used a recipe from this cookbook to make the cake for Elena’s First Birthday Party and it was very, very good.

Elena likes to help any way that she can, but since she’s 2 1/2, that’s to be expected. If she can stir, hold the bowl, help pour, she thinks she’s in heaven. π Isn’t that great?
Morgan loves any of the recipes in the first section “Beginning to Cook,” she likes to make the banana rounds (we use almond butter), and pretty much any of the shakes. π It’s a great little cookbook that really is child friendly. I still substitute a few of the items, and now that I’m doing more study on Nutrition, will probably substitute even more items, but it’s a great little reference for teaching kids to appreciate real, healthy food (no deception required, LOL) I think the fact that the kids can make it themselves adds some pride to it as well. π
BTW you were talked about today in our discussion on healthy oils. I brought up all of the oodles of good things you have to say on Palm Fruit Oil and the Virgin Coconut Oil. π

My Lydia (almost 3) does the same stuff. She loves to add the spices to dinners and all kinds of baking.
