I remember my first conference, where all of the guides, books, and advice I received from friends, came together among informational workshops, booths, and keynote speakers. Seeing all of the lovely curriculum made me giddy. I walked out with an armful of books, receipts of purchases, and couldn’t wait to start our school year.
Every year was the same, which was fine; but something was missing.
A friend attended a Teach Them Diligently conference and traveled all the way from her Ozarks home to Spartanburg, S.C. She couldn’t recommend it enough.
Unfortunately, our family couldn’t make it, but the next year, we registered! TTD had grown and a convention was held within 6 hours of us. We couldn’t wait to hear some of our favorite speakers, such as Ken Ham, Voddie Baucham, and Todd Friel.
You know what? My friend was right!
For the first time ever, we attended a conference in which I didn’t buy a single piece of academic curriculum. Providers were in attendance, but the focus at this conference was different from the others. In the past, I attended conferences in which curriculum and vendors were the highlight of the weekend while a few workshops on parenting, family life, etc. were sprinkled on top.
But at TTD, this model was turned on its head and the weekend’s focus was on discipleship, family unity, and the “why” of homeschooling. If you’re feeling weary as a homeschool mom, you’ll be rejuvenated!
When we left, we felt as though we’d just attended a revival rather than a typical homeschool conference, and we look forward to attending again this year.
Since then, I’ve read reports of others mentioning how the Holy Spirit permeated the weekend. One woman told me that her marriage was put back on track, and others agreed that their resolve to homeschool and vision for homeschooling was restored.
From a husband’s POV, this was the first time that he attended a homeschool conference and left a new man.
In this fast paced, all too secular world, it was an opportunity for him to reboot and get back to the core beliefs that we both hold dear. Great speakers and a total refocus on the importance of homeschooling and more importantly the support for his over-stressed wife was a true blessing. He went to the conference somewhat reluctantly, with an attitude of “I just want to support you, honey,” and he returned home with a strong resolution, a stronger team spirit, and a zeal to teach our children diligently.
As a direct note from my husband: Thank you TTD for all you do. You have no idea what a rejuvenating experience your conference was for our family. Our cup surely runneth over.
If you’re able to attend one of TTD’s four locations this spring, I believe it’ll be an absolute blessing to your family.

Thank you for this wonderful post! We have been on the fences about attending TTD this summer, and I can’t even tell you why. Perhaps it is Satan trying to keep us from being blessed. I am definitely overwhelmed and could use the encouragement. You have helped me see that this is where we need to be this summer. Thank you.
