I am now 100 days from my due date.
Andrew and the children made it safely down the street to therapy. π Morgan and Elena were both very excited to tell me about their walk.
The visit with my Endocrinologist went well, but my blood pressure is still high, which is getting annoying. I’m fairly picky about what I eat and stay active, so high blood pressure wasn’t expected. I’m told I need to start monitoring it at home a couple of times a day. High blood pressure and pregnancy don’t go well together, and there’s a good chance that it could be linked to my thyroid and we’ll get those results soon.
I think I’ve written a little blurb about thyroid disease before, but I’m going to have to write up something extra one day. I frequently hear folks say to someone who has been recently diagnosed, “Thyroid disease is nothing. Just take your medicine and have your levels checked once a year.” It’s this mentality which gets many thyroid patients in trouble. It’s about as dangerous as saying, “Oh he’s/she’s just a late bloomer,” regarding a child who is missing milestones.
Everyone is different and some are more sensitive to their levels (TSH) than others. Some may be more borderline and may be fine seeing a family doctor once a year to check their TSH’s while others really need to see an Endocrinologist and have theirs checked much more frequently (every 4 weeks to 6 months). I could write an entire entry on this and will soon. π
