We’re still around!
Lots of things have been happening over the past few weeks.
We received baby Bethany’s blanket and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I wasn’t expecting it to be so lovely. Here’s a picture of the embroidery. From what we hear, she’s still hanging in there, but they’ll give us more info as they can–it could be a while before we know something.
This has been an absolutely incredibly emotional ordeal for me and I honestly had no idea that I was capable of loving someone I never met so much. I already had plans for her joining our family and every now and then will catch myself marking something down in the calendar only to see a projected travel date or note in the margin. Admittedly, I began to question every now and then, “Will I truly love her as much as my biological kids?” And I have learned from this situation that YES, I will. As I looked at her picture, I would often catch myself smiling at her as I do my other three children and now when I look at the pictures of my bio-trio, it looks like someone is now missing.
The agency has started to send us matches and we prayerfully consider each one, but are also praying fervently for Bethany’s healing. She may not come home, but in our hearts, she’s our daughter and we’re praying for her daily.
As for the rest of us, we have gotten back to our usual dietary habits and have cut out about 90% of junk food. We usually indulge quite a bit around Christmas time, but are back to our usual routine.
Morgan is getting into writing letters as she proudly exlaims that she has a PenPal (Grandma) and this morning was able to pick out her very own stationary.
Jared was in trouble this morning for sassing his therapists, so we had to have a little talk. They’re excited that he’s beginning to assert himself, but we’re trying to explain to him that he’s hurting someone’s feelings and not sure how much of that he understands.
Elena continues to go along for the ride. She’s really getting the hang of potty training and will soon (hopefully) be able to say bye-bye to all diapers!
Now we’re getting ready to finish cleaning the house and head to Taekwon-do.
Lots of stuff happening with our family but we’re definitely around.
