Bible Stories that End with a Hug! {Book Review}

We have story time in our home every evening but since my husband chooses books that cater to the older children, I was eager to find something suitable for our younger crew.

After reviewing a few titles, I was delighted to receive a review copy of Bible Stories that End with a Hug! by Stephen Elkins from Tyndale Publishing.

This book is a delight to read and the stories are incredibly sweet. I read it to my younger boys, ages 18 months and 4 years.

Each lesson is a two page spread which reads “through” the Bible, with very simplified words and colorful pictures, perfect for little ones. There are age-appropriate questions that are perfect to share about God’s love to our dear ones.

At the end of each lesson is “Hug Time,” which not only prompts a hug for the children listening, but also ties back into the lesson, such as “Give the one who God protects a hug,” or “Give the one who prays for God’s blessing a hug.”

While we read this book to our youngest little ones, our older three children (ages 7 through 10 years) also enjoyed listening in and looking at the pictures. What youngster doesn’t find comfort in knowing he or she is loved?

But don’t think this book will be short lived in your home. I, myself, imagine reading it again for years to come.
