I love to make homemade lotions and potions. They’re fresher, work better than anything store bought, and of course, are made with a mama’s love. Since I’m the one mixing and creating them in my own kitchen, I know exactly what’s going into the product and can rest assured that what I put on our skin is as natural as possible.
One for Mama
I usually have ultra oily skin, but during pregnancy, my skin turns dry and is prone to stretch-marks. As my precious baby grows, my skin itches terribly and regular lotion, even those found at baby boutiques, simply don’t cut it.
Since I absolutely adore the fragrance of unrefined coconut oil, this belly lotion is one of my favorite recipes. If you don’t like coconut oil, feel free to use olive oil or sweet almond oil. With it’s ability to promote relaxation, lavender is an excellent essential oil to add to this lotion, but if you prefer peppermint, especially during the winter months, or lemon to help as a pick-me-up, feel free! Another great thing about making your own skin care items is that you can customize them to suit your own needs.
