Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5
Twas the week before Thanksgiving and what do I hear all through my house?
“When we get a bigger home…”
“When I have a bigger room…”
“When Mama has a bigger kitchen…”
All coming from the mouths of my babes. Then again, perhaps it shouldn’t be such a surprise, as they’re just replaying the promises my husband and I have made to each other.
Little ears pick up everything, don’t they?
Over the years, I’ve struggled with discontent, especially regarding our home. But it wasn’t until I heard my children repeating statements from my own lips that I realized there was a problem.
How could I foster a sense of thankfulness for all God has given us, when I feared it was my own actions and words that not only affected their hearts, but potentially the hearts of the next generation?
