Happy New Year, and welcome to Mama Moments Mondays! Currently, linkytools is down, so I’m unable to access last week’s posts for the featured. In the meantime, I hope the linky below works.
It’s been a great two weeks with the family, and we’ve accomplished so much school work! I think it helped having a break from our usual appointments and schedules. Talk about an eye opener! It inspired me to finish our school year as simply and as peacefully as possible.
We’ve changed some of our curriculum, too! My 4th grader switched from Rod and Staff English to Bob Jones English, and my 6th grader changed from Language Lessons to Christian Light Education English, and from Teaching Textbooks into Christian Light Education Math. We added in Social Studies and Science from Accelerated Christian Education for both.
Our other curriculum choices have remained the same, with my oldest using Heart of Dakota with a couple of live classes from Veritas Press, and my 1st grader continuing with Christian Light Education’s Language Arts, Learning to Read, and Math.
My preschooler is using the About 3 Series from Christian Light Education while my toddler is enjoying plenty of free time and read alouds.
There’s something about going into the 2nd semester that inspires me to reassess our year and make changes. I’ve never regretted these changes. All of the curriculum we’ve used has been great, but each child is different with their own learning styles and sometimes making a change opens doors to learning.
Even though we switched out a few things, we still plan to complete all we can by the end of March. We’ll see how it goes.
How about you? Do you make changes mid-year?

We’ve changed our curriculum mid-year before. It happens. I hope it makes the rest of the year run smoothly 🙂

Thanks, Amanda!! It’s kind of refreshing to change a bit of curriculum here and there, too. And since every child is different, it’s not always possible to pass down everything. 🙂 I hope your own start to the new year is going well!

Always enjoy these parties. Always making changes this time of year. I’m really trying to get organized, trying to exercise more and well I’m doing 3 Bible studies at once. Loving retired life keeping grandchildren and substitute teaching.
