“Did you make that outfit?”
I would love to make my kid’s clothes, but I haven’t learned that skill yet. I will one day though, I hope.
The girls are often complimented on their clothes, especially when they wear their matching outfits. Today I received the cutest plaid, pleated jumper for Elena, which she’ll wear for her 3 year old pictures.
Because Morgan is tall for her age, yet thin, I found it difficult to find clothes in the mainstream shops that would fit her. The size 6’s were too short, but fit throughout her chest, while the 7’s were long enough but hung off her shoulders. Elena is also tall for her size, but has a smaller frame than Morgan, which makes it even harder finding clothes to fit.
After doing tons of searching online and talking to other parents in the same situation, I found Modest Apparel, USA.
They make clothes for toddlers, girls, teens, ladies, maternity, nursing, etc. At first I thought this was a seamstress who worked out of her own home, but then I realized it’s a team of seamstresses working together. The prices are extremely reasonable considering how well the clothes are made, as well as the good heavy material used. When I took one of the jumpers to my local seamstress, she was floored when I said I only paid $25 for it. She said to make that jumper she would’ve charged at least $60.
After speaking to the gal who runs this biz, I learned that she attends fashion shows to keep up with the latest trends, but then adds length to make things longer and raises the necklines. The best part is that for a tall, long legged, thin girl like Morgan, she has clothes which not only fit, but are also long enough.
I know of parents who don’t have a conviction about modest dress for their girls, but will still shop from this site just because of the fit.
The material is also amazing–definitely clothes that are worthy of being handed down.
I’ve done my own fair share of shopping for myself, especially in regards to maternity. I went to Motherhood to do some shopping and found only a few pieces of clothing in the entire store which would fit me well. I have loved every piece sent to me by Modest Apparel USA and they even have a great “real” return policy. I’ve only had to return one item and that was because it was too small–I learned the next day I simply needed to exchange it for a maternity item as that’s when we learned we were expecting again.
