About a year ago I wrote that I would explain the link between my sister, Lindsay, and some certain special dreams of mine.
And since then, I’ve talked to others about “Lindsay Dreams,” which is special code in our family for a specific type of news.
While it’s a trivial entry, I’m frequently reminded that I have not explained this code and I need to get it cleared up before I continue to use it down the road.
So, I have a sister named Lindsay. Isn’t she pretty?
Back in the fall of 2004, I started having these dreams of Lindsay–one each night in a row for about a week. She was trying to tell me something but I obviously wasn’t paying attention.
And again in early spring, 2008 I started having dreams of Lindsay, which I put down to the fact that she was getting married soon. But, just as before, she was trying to tell me something.
A couple of weeks before Lindsay’s wedding, I had a dream that I couldn’t completely fit into my bridesmaid dress and the wedding was about to start. Everything was fine in the waist, hips, etc., but just couldn’t get it zipped up in the top. In the dream, Lindsay, an ultra-calm bride, said she knew what was up and suggested I head to the nearest Walgreens.
Talk about deja vu when I couldn’t zip up the dress during my final fitting. I began to wonder but dismissed it because I’d set my mind on adoption and due to other recent events, believed pregnancy was unlikely. The sweet seamstress seemed a bit embarrassed, especially as she’d measured me herself a couple of weeks before. Bless her heart, we had to do some last minute alterations!
Back in 2004, I had several dreams of visiting with Lindsay in our house in Alabama. But in the last dream, she ran into the room, shouting, “Sara! You HAVE to look at this! I’ve been trying to tell you” and handed me the white stick with the two lines.
By now, it’s all clear that yep, both times I was indeed pregnant with my “surprise” and “shock” babies.
Having a Lindsay Dream harmonize with her wedding was especially sweet. I was going to wait until after Lindsay’s wedding to tell Andrew (he’s usually the last to know since I try to get creative in telling him and I need accomplices) but at Lindsay’s rehearsal dinner, she came over and said she wanted to be there when he was told and my sister Lisa took an awesome shot of his face.
So, that’s it. From now on when you hear or read “I had a Lindsay Dream,” you’ll know what I’m talking about. π
ETA: I didn’t have a Lindsay Dream last night. π That’s just the title. π But next time y’all hear me say “I had a Lindsay Dream last night,” you’ll know that I actually did. LOL π
