Matthias’s first pictures

My friend, Carie, took these pictures when Matthias was only 48 hours old. He’s such a sweetie and the children absolutely love their new little brother.

I cannot imagine life without all of my sweet children. Years ago, I decided we’d not have more than three children–it seemed a nice sensible size. I had all sorts of reasons (mostly worldly) and they sounded plausible. But fortunately, God worked in my heart, and I never had peace over officially “closing up shop.”

We wouldn’t have two of our boys, if we’d followed our own wisdom. How blessed we are to have been entrusted with five precious souls: two gorgeous girls and three boys who, Lord Willing, will be strong Spiritual leaders of their families. Parenting is such a huge responsibility and we don’t take this charge lightly.

I spoke with my Dad earlier and he said next time we’re in town, he wants to get a picture of his five daughters, four sons-in-law, and nine grandchildren. NINE grandchildren (and I’m sure many more to come). Talk about the start of a dynasty!
