Prayer Requests: Gospel for Asia’s Women’s Fellowships
Today, women in South Asia who have been abused, degraded and misled—by their culture, their families and even their own husbands—are growing in the Lord and seeing His love more fully. Through Gospel for Asia’s Women’s Fellowships, thousands of women all across South Asia are learning God’s Word, memorizing Scripture, praying, reaching out and worshiping the God who saved them. Their lives are changing as they gather each week in their Women’s Fellowship groups.
They are learning practical skills, too. Many Women’s Fellowships are involved with our literacy program, teaching women in their communities to read, write and do simple math.
Other classes teach first aid and basic hygiene practices—all new concepts to these women. Some Women’s Fellowships also teach skills that can help them make a living, like sewing.
Praise God that these dear women in South Asia are learning of the Lord’s love for them through this wonderful ministry! Will you please pray for Women’s Fellowship and all the women who are growing through it?
Pray for the translation of the literacy book into more languages.
Our literacy book, A New Beginning, is the keystone for our Women’s Literacy Program and has been translated into 11 languages so far, helping tens of thousands of women. However, with India alone having 22 official languages and 398 total languages, many women still do not have access to literacy training in their mother tongue. Until they become literate, they cannot read God’s Word for themselves and face great limitations in everyday life.
A New Beginning is effective in part because it incorporates simple examples and pictures of village life. However, this also makes translation more challenging, because village life differs from region to region. Significant portions of the book may need revision with each translation.
Please pray God will give our sisters leading Women’s Fellowship the grace to translate the literacy book into at least two more languages this year, so many more women can read of Jesus’ love for them.
Pray for our sisters in Women’s Fellowship.
The Lord is revealing His love to the hearts of ladies in Women’s Fellowship. But the change isn’t stopping at their relationship with God. Having lived most of their lives without being taught godly values, many of our sisters, like Aung, are now learning how to respect their husbands, care for their children and relate to others.
Please pray the Lord will bless our sisters in Women’s Fellowship with a deeper walk with Him and that His grace will flow through them to others.
Pray for effective outreach.
“We want you to learn that it is not just the job of the pastor to bring people to Christ,” the director of Women’s Fellowship shares with a gathering of ladies. “As a follower of Christ Jesus, as one who knows the Lord personally, it is also your responsibility to witness and share Christ.”
The sisters in our Women’s Fellowship groups not only reach out to others in their communities, but they also learn about missions history, pray for global missions, support local missionaries and find creative ways to raise funds for outreach.
Please pray for the ministry efforts of our sisters in Women’s Fellowship, especially as they enter hostile environments to share God’s love.
Pray for more leaders.
One great challenge for our Women’s Fellowships is finding and training women to lead the groups. Almost all the women in our churches are first-generation believers, and many have come to know the Lord only in recent years. It’s a tall order to ask them to now help lead other women toward the Lord.
Please ask our Father to raise up women who know His heart to help teach other women in Him.
Pray for women whose husbands oppose them.
A significant portion of the sisters in Women’s Fellowship groups live with husbands who haven’t yet come to know Jesus. Many wives face opposition, and some even endure abuse from their spouses for gathering with other believers.
Please pray the Lord will give grace, strength and wisdom for each situation to our sisters who live with this struggle day after day. Please also pray God will open their husbands’ eyes to the Truth.
