Mamas, we’ve all been ill, busy tending to another little one, called out for an emergency, or unable to tend to our homes for some reason.
How do you view these down times?
I used to approach them with dread, especially when I’ve been the last one sick after nursing everyone else back to wellness. I can recall many times when I’ve emerged from my bedroom, only to encounter a sink overflowing with dirty dishes, leftovers still on the counter, a laundry basket with a good four or five loads left for me to sort and wash, and an overall feeling of exhaustion before I even started to put the pieces back together. And there in the corner, was my dear husband, who after trying to hold down the fort, was thrilled to see me on my feet!
Yes, Mamas, I’ve been there. I’ve felt the frustration and discouragement of what happens when I’m down. Not until a wise, older woman gently gave me a nudge, asking me what I was teaching my children did I realize that after all these years, we were missing out on a wonderful opportunity of teaching ministry and training little hearts for service, right here in our own home.
