With Christmas around the corner, I’ve already shared a gift guide for the homeschool mom and another featuring STEM toys for early childhood. Since I don’t want to forget the older kids, check out these subscription boxes specialized for the older age group.
Every month, your 9-16 year-old-child will receive a box full of things to build. As they build the crafts, kids learn about engineering, technology, and science. This is a great box for any child that likes to work with their hands and construct something really cool. Also, at only $19.95 a month, it’s a great value!
Little Passports
Do you know a child who dreams of travel? Little Passports is the subscription box for them! This box takes kids on a journey around the world with Sam and Sophia. The first box comes with everything children will need, as well as a “suitcase” to keep it all in. Each box that follows covers a specific country, full of fun things for them to experience and enjoy. This subscription box is geared for children ages 3 – 12 and only costs $11.95 per month. When we did My Father’s World’s ECC, we had a subscription to this company, and it fit in beautifully.
Groovy Lab in a Box
This subscription box focuses entirely on teaching STEM subjects. Each month has a different STEM subject as the focus and comes with everything a kid will need to learn and have a blast. It also teaches all of the stages of creating, testing, and redesigning anything they can imagine. Kids also have access to an online learning portion! This Groovy Lab in a Box was created with children 8-years-old and up and costs $26.95 a month.
This subscription box is one for little readers. Each month, LitJoy Crate selects a newly released book and sends that along with 3 to 5 book themed items, for only $29.99 per month. There are options for children’s books, as well as young adult, so you have every child you know covered. Introduce kids to the joy of reading, or help build the library of a child who already loves getting lost in books.
Spangler Science Club
This subscription box is geared towards kids, ages 7 – 14, with packages ranging from $9.99 to $29.99 a month. It also comes with everything you need to create 1-10 hands-on STEM-themed projects, depending on subscription. Shipping rates range from free to $5 a month and some packages include a 20% discount for spanglerscience.com
History Unboxed
Do you know any future history majors? Then this box will be their favorite surprise all year round and only costs $29.97 per month. History Unboxed as a theme each month that focuses on a certain person or time period. This subscription box brings history to life by having children learn through all of their senses.
MyEDU Crate
This box is jam packed full of fun learning! Curated by teachers, it’s specifically created to make learning fun. Each month is loaded with different high quality, fun, learning materials. Rates are $39.93 per month.
