“Mama, I’m bored. What can I do?” asks my bright-eyed, spirited 5-year-old.
As I sip my warm tea, enjoying the gorgeous misty autumn view outside my picture window, I realize my son doesn’t have the same appreciation for quiet, slow afternoons. Puddles, mud, and the promise of more rain thwarts his plans for continuing his last excursion into our woods. So what’s a mama and her boy to do?
With Thanksgiving right around the corner and wanting to keep him unplugged amidst the simmering hustle and bustle, I suggest scissors, crayons, and colored paper. His eagerness to conquer the wetlands of our backyard turns into delight as we break out the art supplies and create something new.
Can you relate to my day? If so, check out this Thanksgiving-themed craft round-up, and see if you can take a rainy day and turn it into a fun-filled afternoon. You may find some fun, inexpensive ways to decorate your home for Thanksgiving and hand-made decor is the best–what great potential for memory making.
