A dear aquaintance has asked for lots of thoughts and prayers to be sent towards her group today. In Virginia, today is vote day to win a vote which will promote Autism Insurance Reform. She says if they lose the vote, they will have to start over.
Many children, whether diagnosed with Autism, PDD, MR, etc. need services which insurance will not cover. Most children will receive services through the public school system but not all kiddos are getting what they really need. We are fortunate enough not only to have access to good, private therapy, but here in Arkansas, Jared is able to have Medicaid which picks up whatever our private insurance doesn’t pay. I once figured out the costs for Jared’s therapy and it came to $750 a week.
I’ve posted a link before to Autism Speaks, but here’s a link the homepage of Autism Votes for more information.
