I did it!
I completed the 6 week online prenatal core training program from The Tummy Team!
If you’re just now joining me, catch up by reading my intro, week 1, and halfway update.
How I felt?
Compared to when I started, I felt like a different person. Yes I was dealing with typical third trimester tiredness, especially since the baby liked to sit very low, but as far as the lower back pain and the extreme sickness that was starting to rear its ugly head? They were both gone.
Heartburn lingered every now and then, but I could usually pinpoint it to diet; it was worse on days when I didn’t consistently wear the splint. The splint was wonderful but won’t rehabilitate the core without the program–they work together. My pelvic floor muscles were becoming stronger, and I was excited to see how that affected the big day to come!
While I had completed the six weeks, I decided to continue doing the exercises until the birth, practicing ones specifically geared towards the actual event. After the birth, I had my postnatal exercises ready-to-go and planned to follow-up with the Core Foundations comprehensive 8 week program.
The exercises have become second nature and fit into my usual routine. Returning to workouts through Fit2B has also been a joy. After learning everything I have, I tossed most of my other prenatal workout DVDs! Most are not diastasis-friendly.
When I started the prenatal program, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Knowing I didn’t want to continue getting sicker, and convinced that many of my symptoms were related to DR, I was willing to try anything. I’m thankful to The Tummy Team for creating this program so women suffering with many of the same symptoms might find relief.
If you’veΒ followed my journey, I hope it’s been helpful. As always contactΒ The Tummy Team with any questions. They’re wonderful, helpful folks, who are eager to help.

Awww, thanks, Linda. π That’s sweet of you. And yes! The TT program is fantastic. π

Hi! I really enjoyed reading your journey with the tummy team. I too started doing the program at 24 weeks pregnant. I was just wondering if you were planning on doing another post with an update on how your labor went and how you are doing now, post partum. π
Sara Elizabeth says
Yes! I do plan to write a birth story, but haven’t been able to do that yet. The labor exercises taught in the prenatal program were very helpful, and I just signed up for the comprehensive program, which is nice to do with the prenatal background. I hope to get an update written soon. π

Ok, great. Thank you. π

I was wondering if you could describe the symptoms that you were experiencing that were making you so sick. After reading your story, I think I may have the same thing. I’m on my eighth pregnancy, and during my last 2 pregnancies I had horrible belly pain, sometimes it almost felt like pain attacks. Sometimes it would involve vomiting, it was just awful. I’m on week 15 now, and starting to feel the familiar constant pain around my navel again.
So I’m wondering if this might be a hiatal hernia caused by DR like what you had.
Sara Elizabeth says
It may be! I had so much nausea. I also saw a bulge when I tried to do a sit-up and had very painful back spasms. π I did the prenatal program during the pregnancy and it helped tremendously! As soon as I felt the nausea returning, I started the program and feel it definitely helped.

Appreciate you sharing your story about your DR experience. Am a yr post partum myself, 4th pregnancy, and though not formally diagnosed, know I’m fighting this very thing. Its not “bad” for me, but I’m tired of the “belly” that should be gone by now. Have looked into both the Tummy Team and Fit2be before, and incorporated helpful info both sites freely give, but your writeup has encouraged me to actively get this problem resolved. Thank you – would love to read a follow up story on how it has gone for you post partum (since moms of babies/littles have nothing to do but blog..!) π Thank you!

π It’s gone very well. My DR is now closed, so I can focus on actually getting my waistline back. I was so happy when the midwife checked it, because I have worked very, very hard and doing the exercises diligently. No, it wasn’t easy and it was work, but it was worth it. π Thanks for visiting. Their sale ends this Friday (15th), if you’re on the fence. π
