I have been seriously worried about this baby, and I had a feeling a lot had to do with just the sheer shock of something so unexepected.
Whenever people ask, “Oh, so was this a surprise?” we answer, “Oh no, we bypassed surprise and went straight to shock!”
Because of my worry and serious OCD, I rented a doppler. Yep! I did it! I have it for the WHOLE month. I didn’t rent one with the first three kids, but I seriously wanted to hear a heartbeat. It came delivered via UPS, so I didn’t even have to leave my house (which is great these days!)
So, Morgan and I sat ever so quietly, listening to the speakers. We hardly moved an inch during the entire time. Just as I was about to give up and tell Morgan it must still be too early, I heard something and saw the number “98” on the screen. So either my heartbeat is extremely high (my normal heart rate is 55-60 and I’ve heard that sometimes the doppler will pick up the mother’s heartbeat) or the baby is just so small.
So I moved the doppler over just a few inches and BAM there it was! And we got a much higher number of “178.” Now THAT’S a heartbeat!
It was a lot of fun to find it with Morgan. ๐ It also made me smile, which is great because right now I feel so sick and just like a total mess and blob. ๐
