I have received a lot of e-mails asking my thoughts/opinion on this situation. I replied to many with a very emotional reply. Well, I’m cranky, tired, and hormonal. Now that I’m feeling a bit better, I still don’t know what more to say. A friend first e-mailed this to me way before my other friends seemed to hear about it and I regret not posting about this sooner.
Because so many of you have already received an eye full from me and my rants of e-mails, I won’t post much here. The teacher has been re-assigned (see article at the bottom). I don’t think the “system” is set up to be as supportive of SN children as it could be and I’m hoping that perhaps this situation will help others realize that. I know it’s going to take more than one instance, but I know from my own experience that several folks who don’t have SN children have asked me, “Could this happen to someone like Jared?” It often helps to get a personal face to what “could be” to cause people to take some kind of action. I’m hoping that not only will the SN family community step up, but also all of their friends who know them.

PORT ST. LUCIE — Melissa Barton said she is considering legal action after her son’s kindergarten teacher led his classmates to vote him out of class.
After each classmate was allowed to say what they didn’t like about Barton’s 5-year-old son, Alex, his Morningside Elementary teacher said they were going to take a vote, Barton said.
By a 14 to 2 margin, the class voted him out of the class.”
