For some reason, we haven’t had much luck with our cell service out here. Andrew has had a terrible time with his iphone and he’s ready to switch providers.
We blame the Ozarks.
While I had a fun Mother’s Day yesterday, I couldn’t get enough bars stable to call the mothers in my life to wish them Happy Mother’s Day.
As for my own, we started off with a church service at Hamner Barber–if y’all remember, it was the favorite show of our young’ns last year. Turns out that Dave Hamner–the magician of the act–is also an Ordained Reverend and holds services on Sunday mornings. What fun!
Then we headed to Lone Star, where the mothers were treated to a free dessert. I tried hard to make good, healthy choices, but that fudge brownie with ice cream was my weakness.
Afterwards, we signed up for the Wii tournament here at the resort and nearly headed to see Jim Stafford, but I decided to give Jim a different night.
This morning I’m about to head to a Health and Wellness class.
But back to Mother’s Day.
I brought all of my albums with me, as well as about 3 years of photographs which have yet to be sorted and filed! I got a lot of cropping done though and as I showed the albums to my children, explained that I’m blessed to have, as Morgan puts it, “two Mamas.”
My personal album begins with my baby pictures from about 6 months old and extends all the way to my 30s.
Yes I’ve been blessed to have more than one Mama Figure. It’s evident from my albums that I only have a couple of memories without both of them around. And I’m sure I was the typical kid to both as well….imagine, was I a typical kid/teen/young adult?
Oh I’m sure I was.
I guess I’m starting to feel a bit old because I don’t remember many specifics before Morgan’s birth–that’s a lot of years to cram into a memory! Thank goodness for photo albums! And besides this, I often say my life didn’t really begin until I married Andrew (insert blushing bride here).
Back to Mother’s Day:
Yes, I’m blessed. I have someone to turn to for different kinds of needs as a Mama. When I need to talk school and get advice on curriculum, I get a hold of “Nana”
And when I’m trying to figure out how to Mother 4+ children, I can run to “Grandma.”
How many other gals can do this?
Awwww…children really do change everything, don’t they? Since 2002, I think I’ve called Dad “PaPa” way more than I have called him “Dad.”
So, Happy Belated Mother’s Day you two!
Happy Mother’s Day to all y’all other Mamas out there, too!
BTW I’ve been taking lots of pictures on our trip and will post them soon. 🙂
