Well I’ve been wearing my heart rate monitor on calorie count every day now, but today was my 3rd day of doing structured exercise at a certain time AND I have good news, too!
The first day, I walked in the evening and burned an extra 500-600 calories that day.
The second day, I walked in the afternoon and burned an extra 1000 calories! BTW I do have a “baseline” I have used as a result from those days in which no exercise occured and consistently use up about 2050 calories a day.
Today I woke up early (I can’t believe I was able to do that!) and went for a quick walk. Yes I was sick when I returned home (TMI, I know) BUT after only having been up for exactly 2 hours, I have already burned 900 calories!
On the other days (exercise in the afternoon, evening, or none at all), the most I had burned within the first 2 hours was around 150 calories, so I’m gonna guess that it is TOTALLY true the most efficient time to exercise is first thing in the morning. And bear in mind that I’m just walking, too! So, don’t feel bad if you aren’t quite yet in kickboxing shape, if all you can do is walk, then go do it!
AND here’s the nice news–my heart rate is consistently coming down, from being in the 90s-100s to the 70s-80s. When I’m not pregnant, it’s in the 50s, so this is good news and probably means my blood pressure is getting back under control as well. I’ve always heard that good nutrition and regular exercise are fantastic medicine!
