After experiencing fertility issues that we feel were a result of using contraceptives, my husband and I both received a moral conviction regarding contraceptives and chose to take a more natural route, avoiding artificial hormones and artificial methods of birth control.
I already viewed myself as a die-hard breastfeeder and wanted to use breastfeeding as a natural way to space my children, but I didn’t think it worked, because even while breastfeeding exclusively, my cycles come back immediately, so I never gave it a chance.
But what the majority of women deem as “exclusive” breastfeeding is far from what nature requires.

Oh this is interesting!!
My twins are 6 months old and my cycle just came back so I’ve been eager to figure out natural ways to deal with child spacing. Can’t wait to read this!
I never practiced ecological breastfeeding as strictly as I wanted to. With my first son, my cycle returned at 9m though. After my second son my cycle returned at 8 and 11weeks, (he’s a sleeper! hardly nurses but packs on weight like no one’s business) but once my toddler decided he wanted to start nursing again, My cycle has stayed away, so far,
I wish I could practice ecological breastfeeding more strictly!
It definitely became harder with my 5th, 6th, and 7th babies, but mostly because I had older children by then, so we weren’t home as much. 🙂 I’m currently nursing my toddler, who is 16 months old and we’re still going strong.
